The Blank Canvas

Hi all,

I love it when femininity meets edge and versatility is fun. Today's outfit, is the epitome of those three things combined. It also happens to be my official entry to the Bloglovin' and H&M contest with ManRepeller.com, a contest in which bloggers are to show their original style featuring pieces from H&M. Let's dive into the OOTD and why it works.

The Blank Canvas

Is there a more blank canvas combination than a white top and bottom? You can add pretty much anything to it and make it look good. But if you've been a loyal visitor – thank you, mom! – you know that I talk time and again about versatility. This bodysuit from H&M is a good example of that. Aside from being fitted and comfy, it serves dual purpose: Wear it with nothing on top and it becomes a sexy focal piece thanks to its open, low back. In the mood to be more conservative? Sure, just grab a blazer or jacket to cover your back and you're good to go.

You might remember other past outfits featuring long, beautiful skirts that add the right feminine touch to a look and this Jacquard-Weave skirt from H&M is no different. It's unique texture and design differentiates it from other white skirts and gives the whole look depth.

When picking high street pieces, one of the most important things to look for is quality and fabric. This skirt is a winner on both fronts.

The blank canvas is set then. Let's color it then.

Painting the Canvas

First, we're going to add some edge to the look.  And nothing works better to add some instant edge for this than the black leather jacket and, in New York of all places, it adds just what the look needs.

Next up, it's time to spice up your life (see what I did there?) and get into these beautiful flatforms. These Spice Girls-like shoes make quite the statement – they even have stars! They also deliver added comfort and height which is a plus for all 5ft 1 inch of me.

I am a Miami girl through and through so you know I need some color. Monochrome doesn't cut it today. What better way to add a bit of funky, fun colors than grabbing an alleged makeup case – complete with mirror inside and everything – and have it pretend to be a purse for a day? Yea, that sounds like a good idea and this Henri Bendel case is the winner. With the light blue coloring and spacious interior, it gives the outfit some needed color and my make up a rightful home.

To finish off the look, I grabbed this beautiful gold choker that my husband doesn't understand – or that's what I tell him at least when he gives me his WTF face. Perfect to add just the right amount of luxury.

As always, thank you for reading!

Let me know in the comments below, what is your go to blank canvas?

XOXO,

Christie
