Christie On The Go: Positano
Hi all,
Today we're continuing to look back at my recent summer travel in Europe (we've explored Pompeii, Ibiza & Edinburgh so far) and, in particular, a place I've been wanting to visit for the longest time: Positano and the Amalfi Coast. So let's take a brief look at this stunning Italian destination.
Positano
Located in the famed Amalfi Coast, in the southern part of Italy, Positano is a cliff side town that is well known for its incredible views, pebble beaches and narrows streets. Walking there feels like you're in a dream, with one picturesque scene after the next. The town features several boutiques, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy - many of which are purposely located to allow you to see the water and the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. All the way at the bottom, you find the pebble beach, which as the description suggests features rock-like sand that actually gets quite hot in the middle of the day (so wear sandals)!
If staying in Positano, you're within driving distance from Salerno and Sorrento, two larger cities to explore, and you can take a quick ferry to Capri as well. To be clear though: The town is not huge (recommend staying here for no more than two or three days maximum), so do plan on visiting neighboring cities if you're staying there for a prolonged time. Altenratively, you can stay at one those cities and drive into Positano for a day or two.
There are several hotels for you to stay at in the town, some rather famous too. They include Le Sireneuse (can't eat lunch/dinner unless staying but it's beautiful) and Il San Pietro de Positano which has a famous bench photo opp.
On this trip, I had the opportunity to spend some time on the beach and then have pizza and pasta overlooking the yacht-filled coast line. I strongly recommend heafing to the beach in the morning, and ordering a drink and food to the lounge chairs. Then, you have tons of option to choose from to eat something later in the afternoon. I don't think you can go wrong here! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the drive. Driving the Amalfi Coast is quite the experience and one that I strongly recommend you take in a convertible if you can even though I was scared the entire time!
