What you Need for a Train-Themed Kids Birthday Party

Hi all,

Recently, we celebrated my son Oliver’s 2nd birthday party and as he’s become a huge fan of anything transportation - be it trucks, planes, trains or cars - we decided to throw him a train-themed birthday party. Below, I’ll share some of the research and items we eventually ended up getting and what I recommend if you’re planning on throwing a kid’s train-theme birthday party!

Invitations

The invitations to any kid’s birthday party are always important and I chose mine from Etsy - it was easy to use and super cute!

Kid’s Table

For the kid’s table, I decided to go with a low lying boho style table. I did a bit of research in regards to renting, but found buying one was about the same price, and then I own for any future time I want to use it. I got some pillows and rugs as well.

For the top decor of the table, we stuck of course with a train theme and used Meri Meri for most of it. Check them out if you’re looking for any sort of birthday theme plates, napkins, cups, you name it! I also used them last year for Oliver’s first birthday, so obviously going back to them means I like their items. I incorporated as well a fun train set that the kids LOVED!

For entertainment, we had our usual playground that Oliver uses plus a sensory table. I chose to add sand, trains, black beans, trees, etc. I do recommend having an adult supervise, or asking parents to supervise their own children (I know, ricket science, but you never know!)

To close off the decorations, I enlisted some help from Etsy and Amazon in the form of signs, but also called on two companies I used before: AlphaLit (available in many cities) and MaggieCreativeDesign in Miami for balloons. We also rented a little train as well from PonyandPettingzoo in Miami!
