Blue Hi-Low & Off The Shoulder Dresses with Lulus

Hi all,

As I write this, I’ve just arrived back from the tropics. I went from hot, sunny weather to a rainy Memorial Day Monday here in NYC. But, my mind is still back in Mexico. And when I go on a tropical vacation like this last one, I love wearing fun dresses. They're comfortable, versatile and frankly perfect for the warm weather because of their lightweight fabric and air-y nature. Today, in collaboration with Lulus, I’m talking about these beautiful dresses I took with me on vacation.

A Blue Hi-Low Summer Dress

The first dress is a stunning blue hi-low style dress. I was immediately drawn to this dress because it reminded me of the dancer emoji on Instagram that we all use and just made me want to dance in it! The quality of the dress is amazing and you will have everyone speechless when they find out this dress was just over $100 and not $300+!

For this particular look, I also incorporated this super fun clutch - perfect for any holiday! Besides the fun message, it actually is quite a great size to fit almost everything you need inside. I topped the look off with this amazing pair of statement earrings, also from Lulus.

So where do we wear this dress and how do we style it?

It's perfect for a resort vacation or a semi-formal event, be it a cocktail, graduation or engagement party or even a wedding. This dress can be styled as informally or formally as you'd like and it'll all depend on the accessories. I had the pleasure of wearing this dress to a dinner while in Mexico and decided to dress it up a bit with nude stiletto sandals, fun hoop earrings, and a great tassel clutch. If you'd like to style it more casually and/or if heels aren't your thing, then try a neutral colored flat gladiator sandal or classic thong sandal or slide. You can then add your favorite Panama hat and beach bag.

An Off the Shoulder Summer Dress

The second dress is a bit more casual but is still as versatile. Two qualities drew me to this dress: The first was the off the shoulder element - I'm still obsessing over everything off the shoulder. The second was the vertical stripes as they instantly help create the illusion of a taller and leaner figure. This is because one’s eyes are drawn up and down as opposed to side by side. This is great for us petite girls!

Where to wear a casual dress and how to style?

Well, of course you could bring it along on a warm weather vacation or a weekend event (think: brunch, baby or bridal shower, movies).

Like the dress above, you can dress up or down depending on the event. For a more formal event, pair with a heeled sandal and a neutral colored clutch.  I'd recommend to steer away from statement shoes or handbags so you can keep the focus on the busier dress.

For more casual events, pair with espadrille sneakers or plain espadrilles, thong sandals or slides, or event gladiator sandals.

So, tell me: which one of the two is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,
