How To: Voluminous Blow Out

Hi all!

Thank you for stopping by and welcome!  As a Miami girl, I'm used to humidity and heat - which means I know what frizzy hair means. So what do you need to do to have summer-ready, voluminous hair? Let's see!

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting my local Hair Cuttery for a blow out and some styling tips and saw Eunice, Master Stylist in DC. I was very pleasantly surprised to find Hair Cuttery a great alternative for walk-ins and blow outs. In fact, my blow out was just $20 - nothing wrong with that! Plus, I love that they use top-of-the-line products!

However, if you don't have the time to go in, here are a few tips they gave me. First, let's talk about the tools you'll need:

Anti-frizz spray

Blow dryer

Round brush

Hair clips

1. First- Start with washing your hair with shampoo - twice. This will help get rid of excess oils in your hair so that when you style it, it lasts longer. Plus if you have any mositure in your hair- the humidity will love that and you will have frizzy hair.

Use Minimal conditioner- conditioner weighs down your hair.

To combat knots from using minimal conditioner make sure to use cold water as it prevents hair from getting tangled. I always heard about that but never knew why cold water was better for my hair. I guess I have a little bit more motivation to take colder baths. Too bad I like hot baths!

2. Section your hair- I know it takes time but you'll be thanking me later. Then, grab a hair dryer to have easier access to each section of your hair.

3. Use anti-frizz spray

4. Use a round brush! Round brushes help prevent frizz that a paddle brush can't acheive. Grab your round brush and twirl it as if if you were going to curl your hair and then let loose.

Afterwards, you will have more volume and softer hair (from the cold water).
