Trip in Review: Whistler

Hi all,

I'm super excited today to share some details and the overall recap of my week in Whistler, Canada, a place I recommend everyone who enjoys a good ski vacation to visit. But Whistler is so much more than just skiing, so with that end, let's take a look below at what I was up to and if you liked the looks I was featuring while there, you'll find all details below!

How Do you Get To Whistler?

For those that might not know, Whistler is located about 2-3hrs north of Vancouver, Canada. So you'll normally fly into Vancouver (YVR) and then either take a bus, a private car or you can rent a car and head north to Whistler. The drive itself is spectacular, with incredible water, mountain and forest views. We were lucky because on both the way there and the way back, we had no rain or snow, even though the Pacific Northwest is known for the rain and low visibility.

Where to Stay in Whistler

We stayed at the Four Seasons Whistler, located right at the bottom of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and a short drive away from the town. The stay was amazing and I'd definitely recommend a stay there, if you can. The hotel has beautiful views, a restaurant and bar downstairs, a spa, a heated pool and shuttles that run constantly between the hotel, the mountains and the town.

What to Do in Whistler

There's oh so much to do, and I know I likely have so much more to explore. But hey, you have to leave some things for a second time, right? Skiing of course is one of the major attractions in Whistler and with two major mountains, you can see why. At times, it's hard to see the top of the mountain because of the snow and fog but both Whistler and Blackcomb mountain are a sight to behold. For the pro skiier, you have all sorts of runs, from green to double black diamond. Me? I stayed on the green course :). You can do both skiing and snowboarding, which again, I tried both. I liek skiing better, but my husband likes snowboarding better, so... compromise, right?

Aside from skiing, you can go dog sledding, like we did. The hotel arranged it and the excursion took palce 15-20 minutes outside of Whistler where you go on a fun 30-45 minute ride being pulled by the cutest of doggy friends. You first ride seated inside the sleigh and then you can be a musher yourself for a minute as well.

A walk around Whistler is a must, with tons of great shops and restaurants. Among those recommended to us were Araxia, Alta, and Barefoot Bistro. There's also a great spot in between the two peaks called Christine's which is great for lunch with a view. If you're in the mood for fondue, like we were, there's a spot called "The Chalet" right across the street from the Four Seasons that has great fondue! Right near town, you have an ice skating rink as well (located near the Olympic statue, as Vancouver & Whistler recently hosted the Winter Olympics).

On your way back to Vancouver, I also recommend a stop at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, where this photo was taken. Not only is it very picture-friendly, but it's a super fun experience with great views as well. You should also devote at least one day to exploring Vancouver on your way back home. Vancouver is a beautiful city by the water with great views, parks and things to do as well.

Will you be heading to Whistler? Have you been? Let me know in the comments below! And as always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,

Christie
