Hot Shoe Alert: Stuart Weitzman Carmina Platform Sandals Review

Hi all,

Super excited as always to bring a new edition of the Hot Shoe Alert, my weekly review series on some of my favorite shoes of the season and today, we're talking about a pair that I've been wearing quite a bit lately from Stuart Weitzman and available at DSW: the Carmina Platform Sandals. So let's dive in and see why you should or shouldn't invest in these fun platforms and don't forget to comment below with your take on The Alert!

Stuart Weitzman Carmina Sandals

As we slowly approach Fall it’s time to start thinking of transitional dressing. For shoes, it doesn’t mean we have to wear boots - particularly when it’s still 80 degrees outside - but let’s think more of designs and fabrics that will also work in fall. I particularly adore these retro-inspired sandals from Stuart Weitzman and available at DSW. The shoes feature a Suede fabric which is perfect for Fall days and the square-toe design is very much on trend this fall.

The height of the shoe is great. The platform is 1 3/4'' thick, and then we have a 4'' covered block heel.  While high, it doesn't feel as such thanks to the chunky block heel and platform. So you’re sure to be able to stand in these all day without regretting it.

The Carmina Platform Sandals come in two colors: a light mauve and black.

Styling the Carmina Platform Sandals

The style and design of the shoe automatically make these a dressier sandal so you can dress them down or up as you see fit. For example, wear them with a great denim Bermuda short like I do (this short style is pretty trendy at the moment) and blazer combo for running errands or a casual chic brunch. The platforms would also look great with a flowy maxi dress whether in a prairie style or one with dark florals (two big trends for fall) or wear with a great silk black trouser and blouse for a fancier affair.

Branding & Pricing

It's no surprise that Stuart Weitzman is one of my favorite designers. They always produce classic sandals that won't go out of style next year. These platform sandals are currently $199, down from $425, so while they're not a no-brainer because $200 is a bit of an investment, these are also priced very well, in my opinion because you'll be getting a designer brand sandal for half the price and these are a pair that will work great for Fall.

The Verdict

The Stuart Weitzman Carmina Platform Sandals are a classic and timeless sandal that is still very much on trend for this Fall season. And the beauty again, is that you'll be able to wear these again next year, and the year after that provided you take care of them. That means, for example, to be sure to NOT wear them when the forecast calls for rain, because you'll ruin the suede. The chunky heel and platform make the shoe comfortable so you can survive the day while also looking stylish and at $199, down from $425, this would be the right time to invest in them in either color.

What's your take on these platforms? A must-buy? A maybe? Let me know in the comments below, and don't forget to hit that little heart for the like.

xoxo,

Christie
